Hello, I’m Luciana Canu, the founder of U-Can Design. Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember—I loved drawing as a child, but life took me in different directions, and I didn’t pursue formal art education.

It wasn’t until adulthood, while working full-time, that something inside me awakened, pushing me to follow my true calling. Five years ago, I started creating small accessories with fabric, resin, and dung. Soon, I began hand-drawing custom patterns to be printed on fabric, and this is when my passion for textile design truly came alive.

To follow my dreams, I moved from my beloved Sardinia to London, where I studied at Chelsea College of Arts and Richmond College. These experiences not only honed my techniques but also expanded my network and exposed me to inspiring artists from around the world.

At U-Can Design, I combine my love for surf, nature, and island life with sustainable, hand-crafted accessories. From bikinis and surfboard bags to bracelets, scrunchies, and phone cases, every product is customizable, eco-friendly, and made with care. Leftover fabrics are transformed into small accessories, supporting sustainability and mindful creation.

The name U-Can is a playful pun from my last name, Canu: “Canu… Can U… U Can!” It’s a reminder that no matter your experience, finances, or circumstances, you can pursue your passion and create something beautiful. This is for dreamers, free spirits, and anyone inspired by surf, sea, adventure, and self-expression.

What I’ve learned along the way is that experimentation, mistakes, and persistence are the best teachers for artists and entrepreneurs alike. Every step of the journey matters, and every creation tells a story.
