Making a Difference, One Small Step at a Time
A team of engineers from Heriot-Watt University, the University of Edinburgh, and NHS Lothian clinicians tested the effectiveness of seven types of face coverings—including medical-grade and homemade masks—and found that they could all potentially help limit the spread of COVID-19.
We are all living through a very surreal time. Today, my thoughts go not only to everyone affected by the pandemic around the world but also to the unseen victims—because COVID-19 is claiming more lives than we often realise.
This is why every day I try to make a difference, supporting local businesses whenever I can. I choose to buy a takeaway coffee from a little shop down the road, order pizza from a local pizzeria, and shop from small traders instead of big stores. Every small action counts, and together, we can all make an impact.
A month ago, I launched a campaign to raise funds for the NHS. I contributed by creating face masks using some of the fabrics I designed. I want to thank all my contacts in the UK who contributed to the NHS by getting one of my masks. I hope my little effort helped to make someone’s day a bit more colourful and beautiful.
