Protests Around the World
Today, I decided to share this picture—a man saving another man, despite the color of their skin.
I wish we could see more moments like this, instead of videos showing people being killed during police arrests.
To me, the man in this photo performed a wonderful act, setting a powerful example for everyone—especially at a time when so much anger erupted over what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis. This heroic gesture is a symbol of hope and faith in the future, showing that there are many people in the world willing to act with courage and compassion.

I chose to march for Black Lives Matter in London, even during the pandemic. Some might think this was risky because of the virus, but I felt it was an important cause to take that risk. Every day, people around the world risk their lives simply because of the colour of their skin, labelled as “suspected” or “dangerous” unjustly.
It felt right to go out into the streets and express our indignation. I also wanted to remember victims in Italy who have been killed due to abuse of police power.
It was incredibly moving to see people at their windows crying and supporting us while stuck at home during lockdown. Seeing so many young people marching together, united, gave me immense hope and faith in this new generation.
As a Buddhist, I am reminded of this quote:
“Courage is not always heroic action in a time of danger; it can consist of the persistent, unglamorous effort to do what we feel is right.”
We must always find the courage to speak out against injustice.
